Status and Conditions
Throughout your journeys in this wasted world, you're going to have some bad shit happen to you. Some of these effects are more or less temporary, and effect you during combat, we call these effects "Statuses". Other effects grow and worsen over time and are long reaching maladies. These are called Conditions.
Status
Statuses generally have a "Resolved By" condition. If something causes you to pause your RP to resolve these conditions you must begin the timer again. Generally we ask players to be aware of Status Effects as these might be applied to their character by others during the game. These should also be obvious, and take up your character's full attention, this is your chance to ham it up.
Conditions
Conditions are generally accompanied by "Condition Cards" which tell a player how to roleplay the condition and any special mechanics they need to know, the conditions listed on this page are the common conditions you might run into as a result of combat and day to day life in Chalcedony, and are listed here for you to follow/understand
List of Status Effects
Disable Limb - You lose the use of this limb for the combat. If applied to an arm you must drop anything you're holding, and a leg struck this way can not hold your weight.
Resolved By: 30 Seconds of roleplaying resetting your limb and a nice loud scream
Grappled - When grappled you can't use your weapons or move, but you may still talk/shout/etc.
Resolved By: 30 seconds of "struggling to get free" RP, if you stop struggling the timer resets.
Fear Command - Someone has ordered you to do something as a result of cowing you. As long as they are a reasonable threat you must follow this command and RP appropriately.
Resolved By: 30 Seconds of "Get Ahold of Yourself" RP
Unconcious - Someone's pulled your plug. During this time you relax your body/go prone and are unaware of your surroundings.
Resolved By: 30 Seconds Passing
Gusher - You have a heavily bleeding wound. You must hold a hand over the spot where your gusher is to keep yourself from bleeding, but if you remove your hand for more than 5 seconds you enter Bleedin' Out.
Resolved By: Being Bandaged
Gut Punched - You've been struck a low blow and are struggling to get your wind. You should RP gasping and fighting for breath. You can't shout or speak above a whisper, can't run and can't take offensive actions (You can fight defensively and try to ward off someone close)
Resolved By: 30 Seconds of "Catching Your Breath" RP
List of Common Conditions
There are many more conditions than are listed here, but these are the most common conditions you may be likely to encounter, and as such are listed here so you can be aware of them and serve as a sample. Often conditions are primarily RP focused, but sometimes have systems implications as well. Note that conditions don't go away automatically and can persist over multiple events, depending on the condition.
Bleedin' Out - Your character is badly wounded, bleeding heavily and if something doesn't happen they're going to get to dying. You may not stand or effectively fight, and should roleplay being in extreme pain

Complicated Into: Dyin'
Shame - You've done something so antithetical to your core that it's eating you up inside. You have a hard time focusing on a task at hand or feeling motivation.
RP: Feel free to RP in whatever way is appropriate for the source of your shame
System: You can't use knacks
Cured By: Redeeming yourself, making amends or confronting the source of your shame. A scene where you receive 'therapy' from another PC.
Discomforted - You're having a hard time concentrating and are extremely uncomfortable.
Sytem: You can't use any knacks that don't have life and death stakes (You can Operate but can't throw a party)
Resolved By: Removing yourself from the source of your discomfort
Nervous Novice - You're using a weapon you don't understand. You're also Discomforted while holding a weapon you're not trained in.
RP: Your hands on the weapon should tremor, even if just slightly
System: Ranged - You must manually load each round before firing it in the weapon (Can't walk with the weapon loaded).
Melee - Must hold any weapon 2-handed and become disarmed when striking with or parrying with the weapon
Dyin - This might be it for you hombre. You're on Death's doorstep and if something doesn't happen soon you're a goner. You're Unconcious as long as you're Dyin'
Cured By: A character using a skill/equipment to save you
Complicated By: 3 minutes passing
Complicated Into: You're dead. Feel free to become lucid right at the end to pass on some last words, then you pass into the afterlife. Hang around and RP being a corpse for as long as feels right then once they've burried you or left you for the vultures, go find an ST and let them know your fate.
Inspired - You have an inner fire burning, and feel like you can take on the world.
Cured By: Going to sleep, "using" this condition
System: You may temporarily ignore a negative condition to perform a single action/use an item/use a knack.
Complicated By: Entering Bleedin' Out
Complicated Into: Shame (Not living up to your potential)
List of Medical Conditions
As someone is wounded and recovers from their wounds they will undergo a series of various medical conditions. Anyone playing a Patcher or Necrotech may want to understand these conditions and their flow, as they may need to teach them to players under their care. There are also complications which aren't listed here.
Wounded (Limb) - You've suffered a debilitating injury. Wounded arms may not hold items or be used in combat, wounded legs can not support your weight
Cured By: Event Ending (Many days of bedrest)
Complicated By: Getting another wound to the same location
Complicated Into: Maim (in the same location)
Severely Wounded - You've come through a bad situation and while you're stable now, you're in a bad way.
RP: You're in a lot of pain, you can speak though it hurts you to do so. You might be drifting in and out of conciousness
System: You can't move without help, cant use skills, cant speak in a loud voice
Cured By: Patcher Operating on you
Complicated By: Getting wounded again or not being operated on by the next Cusp
Complicated Into: Dyin
Patched - Your wounds are on the way to recovery. You need to baby the area but it's getting better
RP: The wounded area is still tender and nagging
Cured By: At least 2 hours of disuse (Sleep/Full Rest/Limb is kept in a sling)
Complicated By: Being struck again in the wound
Complicated Into: Maim (In the same location)
Maimed (Limb) - A maimed wound is a mangled piece of the body that is never going to repair itself naturally without intervention. The maimed limb has the same negatives as a wounded one but does not recover on its own
Cured By: An item or skill
Complicated By: Nothin' this is bad enough as is
Death's Door - People are holding a mirror under your nose to make sure you're still breathing
RP: There's the barest whisper of life left in you. The odd moan or murmer. Feel free to RP going into shock/spasm/etc. Delirious murmurs.
System: Can not move, speak intelligibly or use any skills
Cured By: Patcher Operating on you
Complicated By: Being wounded again or the event ending without you being operated on
Complicated Into: Dead
Battered - You’ve come through something harrowing and somehow kept your skin intact. It's a miracle you're not dead.
RP: You're walking wounded and barely standing. You get tired easily and are moving through sheer determination
System: May not use equipment other than self defense. May not use Knacks. May not run
Cured By: Event Ending (Many days of bedrest)
Complicated By: Getting Battered Again
Complicated Into: Maimed Torso (Permanent Battered)
